Elena von Ohlen is a research fellow for Spanish Literature Studies at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Prior to this, she was a research fellow for Romance Philology at the FU Berlin, where she completed her Ph.D. with a thesis on „Feminizid in Recht und Literatur. Verfahren der Darstellung feminizidaler Gewalt bei Diego Zúñiga, Laura Restrepo und Fernanda Melchor im Spiegel völker- und strafrechtlicher Entwicklungen“ (Femicide in Law and Literature. Techniques in the depiction of femicidal violence by Diego Zúñiga, Laura Restrepo and Fernanda Melchor as reflected by internal and criminal legal developments). Her research focuses include the literature of Latin America (16th-21st century), law and literature, feminist literature studies and intersectionality, as well as trans-lingual literature and literary multi-linguality.

Elena von Ohlen is a member of Prof. Dr. Julia Burkhardt’s CAS Research Group “Femicide: Interdisciplinary Approaches to a Global Historical Phenomenon”. She will be in Munich as a Visiting Fellow from April to July 2026.
